Planning to Visit Rashtrapati Bhavan? Know How to Book Tickets and Entry Details

Most visitors to Delhi return after viewing Rashtrapati Bhavan only from the outside, assuming that the official residence of the President of India is not open to the general public. However, this is a common misconception. Selected areas of Rashtrapati Bhavan are open for public visits, provided visitors follow the booking process and security guidelines.

Spread across 330 acres, Rashtrapati Bhavan is not just a building but a powerful symbol of India’s democracy, history, and heritage. Designed by architects Edwin Lutyens and Herbert Baker, this H-shaped architectural marvel houses 340 rooms and reflects a blend of Indian and European design elements.

Which Areas Can the Public Visit?

Only selected portions of the main building are accessible to visitors. During the guided tour, visitors are taken to ceremonial halls where the President hosts international dignitaries and official banquets. The tour also includes halls used for national award ceremonies, the Rashtrapati Bhavan Museum, and portrait galleries of former Presidents of India.

All visits are conducted in guided groups to ensure security and provide historical context.

Ticket Booking, Price, and Visiting Timings

Online booking is mandatory to visit Rashtrapati Bhavan. Tickets can be booked exclusively through the official website:

After booking, visitors must undergo a security check before entering with a guided group.

  • Ticket Price: ₹50 per person

  • Visit Duration: Approximately 45 minutes

  • Open Days: Tuesday to Sunday

  • Timings: 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM

  • Last Entry: 4:00 PM

How to Reach Rashtrapati Bhavan?

The nearest metro station is Central Secretariat, from where Gate No. 38 is about 1 kilometer away. From Patel Chowk Metro Station, Gate No. 38 is approximately 2 kilometers away.

Important Things to Remember Before Your Visit

  • Online booking is compulsory

  • Carry a valid government-issued photo ID

  • Mobile phones, cameras, bags, and electronic items are not allowed inside

  • Circuit 1 is open on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday

  • Circuit 2 is open on all days except Monday

  • Circuit 3 is open from August to March on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
