Republic Day 2026 Chinese President Xi Jinping Sends Message of Friendship and Cooperation to India

On 26 January 2026, India celebrated its 77th Republic Day. On this occasion, Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory message to Indian President Droupadi Murmu, describing the relationship between the two countries as that of “good neighbors, friends, and partners” and conveying a positive diplomatic message.

“Good Neighbors, Friends, and Partners”

In his message, Xi Jinping emphasized that India and China are not only geographically close but should also maintain friendly and cooperative relations. He highlighted that China believes joint development and collaboration between the two nations serve the interests of both countries.

He used a symbolic phrase: “The Dragon (China) and the Elephant (India) should dance together”, indicating that both countries should move forward collaboratively and contribute to global peace and prosperity.

Current Status and Future Prospects

In recent years, India-China relations have faced challenges, particularly after the 2020 border clashes, when tensions escalated between the two countries’ forces. These events disrupted normal bilateral relations and led to increased military activity along the border.

However, in the past year, diplomatic dialogues and negotiations have aimed to improve relations, including steps like resuming cross-border flights. Xi Jinping’s message signals China’s interest in stable and positive relations with India.

Message of Global Peace and Cooperation

Xi Jinping further emphasized that stronger cooperation between India and China is important not just for Asia but for global peace and prosperity. He expressed hope that both countries will strengthen strategic dialogue, expand partnerships, and work toward healthy and stable bilateral relations.

President Xi Jinping’s message on Republic Day 2026 is viewed as a diplomatic signal of positivity and cooperation in India-China relations. Promoting collaboration, dialogue, and mutual trust between the two nations can strengthen bilateral ties and contribute to regional and global stability.
